The farthest north along the coast that we got was Patricks Point just below the Redwood National Park because inclement weather was setting in.
On our way
south on US 101 we spent some time in some of the coastal towns to see the sights and stayed at Myers Flat State Park which was in a very thick redwood forest.
Then the driving adventure really began when we cut off on California (1) to stay close to the coast....v e r y close....being on cliffs over looking the ocean on very steep up/down & narrow hair pin...after pin turn. Let's just say that in a sports car it would have been fun...In a 23,500 lb. /34 ft. Motor Home with bike rack...(which bottomed out twice) it was a bit more of a challenge than what we were looking for. Then we pulled into a campground in Fort Bragg for a couple days to replenish supplies and courage to get to our next stop which was Bodega Bay.
Then we decided to get away from the coast for a few days and visit beautifully Sonoma & Napa Valley, staying at a very nice County Park on a straight road.
Running better then a week ahead of schedule we decided to go to this little lake for a few more days....unfortunately all the campgrounds were closed do to low water from the ongoing drought out here. We ended up at another great County Park in Winters only about 50 miles from Sacramento...so it looks like we will do some Urban Camping.
