The State Park in Parker is a great camping spot in a canyon along the Colorado River. We took advantage of some of the hiking trails in the park that took us high above the Colorado for some spectator vistas of the area.
This guy made a lot of noise in his "Go Fast Boat" with the roar from the open headers of the car engine he had stuck in this little 18 ft. boat.
The three hour hike took us on a winding path up, down and around a number of hills with a variety of terrain.
But the main reason we stopped in Parker was to play a round at the Emerald Canyon Golf Course.
A great course with a lot of elevation changes and some very tight fairways.
We saw this course from the highway five years ago and decided that the next time we came through here we would stop and play. So two years ago we did stop, but were told t-times were three weeks out. So this time we called ahead and we were not disappointed.
Our next stop will be back to Surprise, AZ for Tony to get his monthly treatment and then off to a "desert oasis" (not just our words) ...actually called The Springs at Borrego for a week of great golf and beautiful weather.
