Our last stay (on this trip) was at the Fall Creek Falls State Park near Pikeville, Tennessee.... between Nashville and Knoxville. The park of over 20,000 acres is across the Eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau and made up of mostly hardwood forest.
The park has over 18 miles of paved and unpaved trails (some moderately difficult).... that take you to some very impressive waterfalls and cascades...one of which...at 256 feet is the highest in the Eastern United States.
We also played golf on the park's course...a three time selection by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the "Top 100 Public Places To Play" and honored as one of the top 25 public courses in America.
....and the price was $72.00 for both of us...including the cart...
Most state parks have nice camping facilities with a variety of activities for all ages...especially for the kids. This park had more than most....including a hotel, cabins, marina, swimming pool, general store, gift shop, ice sales, fishing lake, nature center with planned activities along with the miles of hiking & biking trails ...& a great golf course
At the end of one of the biking trails was a hiking trail that led to this suspension bridge over one of the gorges...Sandy volunteered to take
We are now at our home base in Toledo...and will stay close throughout the summer.....
Until September.....when the adventure continues.....to the West Coast
