ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Hello Everyone:

This time we travel south to spend some time (about
two months) in Florida.

On the way we spent the night in Cincinnati at the Family Motor Coach Assoc. (which we belong) great free spot to spend the night...but it was 12 degrees. So we spent the next day on the road for nine hours to get to warmer weather in Dalton Georgia staying at an Elks with a big warm up to 34.

We then stopped in Atlanta for the weekend to visit with cousin Craig Riddle, wife Jaclyn...and of course there two dogs Duelce & Gabby. We did what we normally do when we stop to see friends  and relatives ...go out and eat & drink... which we were trying to cut back on this trip...a little.... we will see (lol) Our next time through Atlanta we hope to meet up with the Riddle's at their favorite campground.

Then heading S/E to Savannah, staying at the local Elks the first night which was convenient, arriving late in the afternoon. We went to the welcome center the next day to take a guided tour, and had a great day, which got better because we were able to stay in the parking lot over night.

We then traveled south to Ft. McAllister State Historic Park with lots of Spanish, French and Civil War History. Very peaceful and quiet with very thick tropical foliage.

After two days we traveled farther south to the last state park in Georgia before entering Florida. Crooked River S.P. near the Cumberland Island National Seashore and the Intracoastal Water Way plus it was next to the King Bay Naval Submarine Support Base. This park also had a lot of historical background with Spain and France so we decided to take a park History Hike. There was about twenty people, of all ages that showed up for this hike with a Park Ranger and a Historian Buff in Period Costume. It was a interesting hour & a half long
hike...but what was more interesting is someone Tony hasn't seen in over (35) years was on the hike.

Gail (Emric) Latham with her husband Steve moved from Columbus Ohio last year to this quite little town of St. Marys and just decided to take the very same hike on the very same day...what are the odds?

We visited with them for a couple of hours and got a nice tour of their new home (with this great back yard few) and their new home town... very nice and quaint.

Gail could have knocked Tony over with a feather when she walked up to us and said "are you Tony Myers ?" ...St Marys is now circled on our map!

Next off to Florida...
