NORTH EAST FLORIDA

Coming into Florida on the east coast we decided to stop at some places we have previously past by. So our first stop was Little Talbot Island S.P.

We had nice weather in the high 70's and took advantage of great bike trails, riding about 25 miles in two days through maritime forests, desert like dunes, salt marshes and along beautiful white sandy beaches. But again no cell or Internet!

Our next stop for a couple nights was Anastasia S.P. again no cell service in park but we were there for the charm and history of St. Augustine. Much of this place is lithely frozen in time.

We took a hop-on hop-off trolley tour around town which included a free shuttle from our campground...which we had to line up by using a pay phone...yes they still have those things...lol...
The tour guide kept it light and enjoyable while learning about America's oldest city which including Flagler College, first built as the Hotel Ponce de Leon, a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance Architecture.

From the floor to the celling this was a very impressive structure. Made of pored concrete, which was just being to be developed.

Another beautiful structure was the Cathedral Basilica

Just seeing these two works of art, and understanding that they were built such a long time ago, the woodwork and attention to detail is just amazing.

Of course if you are not traveling in an RV there are plenty of great places to stay...and of course the food ain't bad ether.

Keeping along the coast while continuing south we found a little private campground connected to a resort along hwy A1A in Ormond Beach. Our spot was right up against the beach dunes for a great view, then the weather turned cool and windy (with guests over 35mph) but a nice place to hunker down for a few days, watch some sports on TV and take long walks on the beach. We even had some nice Buckeye Fans from Kentucky as neighbors.

But we also had a slight mishap with Lexi having a brief ... but heartfelt meeting with a large rock ">!~#*"

We then left our great view of the ocean (first stopping to wash the salt of Lexi) then heading S/W and a little inland to Lake Kissimmee S.P. were we biked on some of there over 30 miles of trails.

This park was close to were a friend lives...and knowing she was not home "but back in Ohio" we took a pic of her town sign and posted on fb. The towns name was kind of a reminder of what was going on back home & we know a total shock to her.

Now it's back to the coast...well sort of...

Last time through on the Traumerei we anchored right where the red sailboat is next to the Bridge of Lyons in your picture. One of our favorite stops on Florida's East Coast.
