We made our way back to the coast area, in Stuart where the St. Lucie Canal/Okeechobee Waterway that goes from Cape Coral/Fort Myers, on the Gulf, to Stuart/St.Lucie on the Atlantic...right through the center of the state.
Staying at the county park with a great view of the boats coming down the canal and going through one of the four sets of locks
Tony's brother George has viewed these locks from a different angle, traveling with wife Carol, in there sail boat.
While staying there we learned about a seafood festival which fit perfect into our schedule "right on the way" with free parking & shuttle from a near by college. The food was great...
...With a few interesting characters
We then traveled a little farther south to Fort Lauderdale where we spent a few days with our friends, formally of Toledo, Ted & Nell Sander...
...and of course Gigi & Hapi
It was fun to reminisce about skiing & golfing with the Toledo Ski Club..."more than a few years ago" Tony got to play in a golf scrambles and was on the winning team...so a good start to the 2013 season.
We spent a couple days at the Yacht Haven RV Park & Marina along the inter coastal waters in Fort Lauderdale. Surrounded by million dollar yachts and a wide variety of very large & some very small RV's.
Next...off to the Key's
