5TH. YEAR "ON THE ROAD AGAIN"

Hello everyone (or as they say from these parts...Good Day) We have been out
only one week, but have gone 1,412 miles and are currently in east North Dakota at The Spirit Lake Casino on Devils Lake.

The route that we taken so far is through Michigan over Mackinaw Bridge and into and out of Canada.

Soon after we crossed into Canada and headed north and west on RT17 around Lake Superior it started to rain and it stayed with us pretty much for the three days we were north of the border.

But the rain, mostly light didn't spoil the views we took in on a much hillier road then we imagined. The road was also very well maintained, maybe because of the gas price of $1.42 per liter "A" that's $5.68 a gallon...OUCH!

Making a considerable effort to exercise through hiking and biking as we travel. Our first hike was at the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, were we also camped near Thunder Bay. A nice easy 2.5 km hike which was called "Sea Lion" that took us to spectacular lookouts over Lake Superior...of course all in a light rain.

We then, with the rain ending went through the city of Thunder Bay and reentered to the U.S. through Grand Portage Minnesota.

With our next over night and hike at Temperance River S.P. in Tofte along Lake Superior which was actually pre planed and our route was picked because of this park.

This said, the hike was anything from it's label of "MOTERATE". The Superior Hiking Trail was (NO DOUBT) the most challenging thing we have done in a long time.

Over a variety of terrain we traversed to a elevation of 1,526 ft. and breathtaking ..."maybe a bad choice of words"...view of Lake Superior.

Only 3 miles in length but it took us 3 hours to reach the summit. As we sat looking out over the lake Sandy read the Visitors Log Book
that had entries from people that we though were even crazier than we were.
One wrote that she was 6 months pregnant, another posted that they brought    their dog and another said they had their 4 year old along for the experience.

We were just glade we got back down to the parking lot with only a couple sore bodies and it only took us 2 1/2 hours.

We then ventured next to Duluth were we stayed at Elks Lodge 133 and got some help finding an RV repair business to look at our malfunctioning fridge. It is supposed to automatically switch to propane when you are not plugged into electric power. This will be an on going  situation until we can find another trusted repair place to do the work, because the part had to be ordered with an estimate of 4 days. Not wanting to stick around we hit the road!

Our guess, Burlington Washington on the coast at a Camping World where we will call with the part number needed ahead of time and set appointment.

One of the draw backs of the more Northern Route West is less known or trusted services along with poor cell and internet service...
....we tried to post this 5 days ago...lol
