NEW PLACES

This being our 5th. year traveling during the winter months and we have, as you can see some favorite spots that we venture to time and again. But as we left Quartzsite we decided to visit some new spots, that we have both read about and heard about from fellow RV'ers.
The first place we stopped at sounded very nice, just over the state line in California along the Colorado River and maybe our last Cal stop this trip.

We found the Hidden Beaches River Resort in Blythe to be in our minds about the worst example of an RV Resort that we have run across. This said we did stay for two nights because we made reservations in advance, which we seldom do. All on the information from there web site looked positive and they even had a display at Quartzsite. Also this was a Passport America; half price park that we have had some success with on our trips...but not this time.

This was the most redeeming part of this place, the view of the Colorado River which was only available from a few prime sites, most sites had views of full time residents old trailers and junk...not a resort... and not very good, even at half price.

We then traveled south to Yuma AZ, a place were thousands of "Snowbirds" call home through the winter months. We have traveled through on US 8 a number of times but only stopped for gas. This time we had other things in mind.

This was the view from our site at Cocopah RV and Golf Resort, an Indian owned property with amenities more in line with the name "RESORT" This was another place we wished we had set aside more time for. Truly one of the best places we have stayed at and one week was just not enough.

...And the golf wasn't bad either...

For all you back in Toledo these are Mud Hens!

As we have said before the friendliest people are at the nicest places... because they really like being there... as we found at Cocopah.

We then, with a little over a week before we needed to be back in Surprise traveled east of Phoenix to Mesa were we stayed at a very large RV park called Val Vista Village. Actually this used to be 3 parks but the CAL AM Corporation took them over and made a mega park of 1,498 sites in 3 different villages.

All three neighborhoods (villages) provide many amenities and everyone has access to everything.

We stayed in what we thought was the oldest and for sure the largest village (Vista) which had a lot of older mobile home trailer type permanent homes mixed in with newer park models, that were very close together and streets lined with orange trees.

The (Fiesta) was a newer park and spread out a little more with palm trees lining the streets.

The (Ranchos) was the most spacious with a lot of newer park model homes.

All three villages also had space for short and long term RV guest like us.

In all this was a nice place for us to spend a week but we have stayed at parks in the same area that we liked better. The older trailers didn't bother us that much because they were kept up fairly well like the three next pictures but this park was just two big and a little crowded.

So it's time to go back to the Mount Payne for a few days and decide where we will go for our final month in the South West. We may even stay in one place for the whole month which will be a first for us because in the past we have never stayed at a RV park longer than ten (10) days.
