BACK TO COCOPAH

With having a little over a month before heading back to Ohio we decided to go to a place we enjoyed before and stay for a whole month.

Situated along the Colorado River near Yuma AZ, the Cocopah Bend RV and Golf Resort was an easy choice. On 300 acres surrounded by agriculture in a rural setting with total of 786 sites with 165 directly on the 18 hole golf course, which we had a spot on the par 4 3rd fairway.

This is an easy place to spot while traveling down route 8, just look for the water tower on the south side, just a few miles into Arizona from California.

The golf course is USGA Rated, 5701 yard par 73 which at first sight had Tony thinking "WOW" this is a easy looking course. We soon learned that was not the case with elevated greens, which were very hard like the rest of AZ soil and this made approach shots very tricky especially on front pin placements.

One of the many birds that frequent the course are these Mud Hens

Desert Landscapes are everywhere you look with the long term residents taking lots of pride in keeping their places looking nice.

The big industry down here is agriculture and you go through miles of farm land just to get to this place. We learned they grow seven different crops, rotating them to fill orders. The workers below are harvesting celery and the next pic is a field of cauliflower which was planted only three weeks ago so the turn around is quite amazing. They come in and flood the Felds so they need to be very level.

Beautiful views through out the park...man made or nature made.

One of the upsides of staying in a nice park like this for a longer time is you meet a lot of nice people and you aren't saying goodbye in a few days. This also allows us to learn more about, not only this area but other interesting areas that like minded people have traveled to.

We also took a daily 5 mile tour of the park on our bikes just to keep up with people that we have met and of course always meeting new ones. We even joined a couple golf leagues for the month.

Cocopah Resort is defiantly worth another stay but it will have to wait for a couple years for us because next year it's another east coast tour.
