OUR FIRST COUPLE WEEKS IN FLORIDA

In our last post we were just getting into Florida for a 4 1/2 month stay...but not in one place.

We come across critters of all sizes and in all kinds of places!

These nuts sounded like gun shots when they fell on our roof in the middle of the night!

These two signs where kind of funny in National Forest...
They didn't say you couldn't swim...just there wasn't anyone to save you!

We took a couple days traveling across the state stopping in the Ocala National Forest for one night and then discovered a great rest area just north of Ft. Myers on I75 on our way to Cape Coral.

Our friends Richard and Kathy live there and helped us find a doctor so Tony can get his monthly treatment there...which is a lot easier than in the past. Trips in the past to Florida were interrupted 30 days or so for a trip back to Toledo.

My first appointment, just happened to be on Halloween...everyone was dressed up, even Tony's new doctor as Captain Jack Spade.

Richard...a retired physician likes to work and restore older cars so when he heard we were looking for a jeep while in Florida...he was ready a month before we arrived.

We found this jeep on just our second day out...It's hard to believe but there was a better selection of used tJ's here in this area of Florida than back in Toledo, where they are made.

He's a 2004 Jeep Wrangler tJ ...born in Toledo...raised in Florida... and will be Lexi's little brother while we travel across the country
....We will just call him {TJ}

TJ came with a tow bar and tow light harness set up, ready to be hooked up to Lexi. Plus TJ color is very close to the accent color
(Studebaker Gold) on Lexi.

This now allows us to go and explore more ...and we have...quite a bit.

Our Grand Niece, Danielle from Arizona told us we should go see the Dolphins that were rescued. So we went to a very interesting exhibit with props from the movie "Dolphin Tail" which was a true story of a Dolphin getting an artificial tail. We also got to watch the trainers work with Dolphins...one named Winter ...the other Hope

These are a few picks from the same week and the RV park we stayed at. Fort De Soto, a county park located on an island "or key"
as they call them down here when they connect them with bridges.
A beautiful location between the Golf of Mexico and Tampa Bay adjacent to St. Petersburg. One of the best campgrounds in Florida were you can camp (like we did) right on the waters edge.

While camping there we also took an 8 mile bike ride to the actual "Fort De Soto" and a mile of beach  right on the Gulf.
