HAPPY NEW YEAR

We have ben slow to post on this blog for a number of reasons...one being that we have ben very busy out and about seeing things {now with jeep in tow} and the places we have been in have had poor or non existent service...yes in this day and age. But we will now catch up a little.

Well actually it was a very good end of the year!

Tony's son Ty and family now live in Lakewood Ranch which is close to Sarasota and his daughter Dawn and family came down from Ohio for Christmas so we had a nice time just all being together.

What would Christmas Dinner be without entertainment...

Smiling faces on Siesta Key...#1 beach in the U.S.A.

A little catch and release...but as you can see...we didn't go hungry!

We also stayed at some interesting places...and some more than once to start out the new year.

This was a research and observation cat walk and tower at Myakka River S.P. that was over 6o feet so you were actually looking down on the trees and wildlife.

Many types of birds...

And more than a few alligators...we saw over 50 at Myakka River S.P.

Female Alligator with babies (highlighted) ...we were told gator was female because males would eat the young. The ranger programs at state and national parks are very informative and sometimes very surprising.

We traveled east to Ft. Lauderdale to visit friends for a week. Nancy and Tom Kellermeyer showed us around their little slice of paradise that they call home during the winter. We had a nice time visiting with our golf friends from Toledo as we took a tour around the harbor to admire the large homes and lavish yachts.

The Bicycle Bar...mixed drinks anyone.?.?

Lots of canal inlets in Florida...but not many as exclusive as this.

Unbelievable that many of these homes are seasonal

...And if a big house isn't enough... then add a big boat!

If you don't think these private boats are big...check out the guy cleaning the boat in the pic above ...at the water line!

Of course this is not a private yacht...rather one of the Cruse Ships that run several short and long cruses every week out of Fort Lauderdale.

We next travel to the Everglades for a little stay and as it turns out we are really going to be off the grid.
