It's been a short summer with leaving so early but we still seemed to fit a lot of things in:
Tony celebrated his 50 year class reunion which was interesting, but fun. He was on the planning committee that did a good job "over 2 years" of organizing everything. At one meeting (and a week moment) last summer Tony volunteered to run the reunion golf tournament. The highlight wasn't the scores but the prizes...CASH...well almost...Tony graduated from Bowsher High School in 1966 which was in Toledo's (south end) and our school mascot was THE REBLES which was well before any of the negative under tones relating to the Confederate Flag. So the prizes were Confederate Dollars which made for a fitting prize for pretend golfers.
Tony handing out cash !!!
Another celebration that we were a part of was Tony's brother George and his wife Carol's 50th Wedding Anniversary. There daughters, Debby and Diane did a great job of planning and it was nice seeing everyone.
Our daughter Dawn and granddaughter Andrea...
The apple didn't fall far from the tree...just not that tree...
Tony with sister Chris, brother's George and Tom
along with there 95 year old mother Laura Myers.
Still another celebration that we were a {small} part of was the "JEEP FEST" which was to celebrate 75 years of the Jeep being made in Toledo.
In line for the start of the parade #401 of over 1,100
(thanks Terry for the pic)
Leading the parade and other prominent locations were the Military Jeeps
that took (center stage) because they were the first Jeeps to be
"Made in Toledo"
The new Jeep Pickup to be made in {WHERE ELSE} Toledo!!!
Then the love for the automobile took us north the next weekend to the Woodward Dream Cruise. This isn't just a showing of cars from the past and present but includes a moving showcase that goes through six(6) town along Woodward Av. with gatherings of car clubs, auto related business, auto companies and thousands of proud individuals showing there cars...many of which have been restored to...in some cases...better than original condition.
Tony at the Chrysler Mo Par Display...
This one is for the Payne Family...
Nice cars & trucks everywhere you looked...
New cars with supper displays...
You will literally see everything that has wheels...
This is a re-do of a Ferrari that this company in Minnesota makes 25% larger
then the originals...they also do older Corvettes...UNBEVELABLE!
We also did a few repairs on Lexi (or RV) which is always a treat and did an extensive detailing on her outside which included taking off some of the graphics that have seen better days (or years) Also TJ, our Jeep, got a little clean up with fresh fender flair paint and new U-Joints with the help from our friend Dave Tillman.
And thank you Lay Transmission in Toledo for the fast turn-a-round!
Some of our neighbors and friends wonder why we leave
our nice surroundings so early when there is plenty of
nice weather left back home...It's called opportunity...
to explore new adventures.
Of course we squeezed in a few rounds of golf, a couple pool parties and dinners with friends at some very good restaurants in the Toledo area.
So this is something new and we think something good to be in one (1) place for an extended period of time...JUST ANOTHER PART OF THE ADVENTURE !!!
LIVE
