Sandy added a personal touch to our campsite with flowers
And we just had to re-post a cartoon that a friend from Toledo
put out a while ago...with special meeting for Tony who helped people
in the campground with a variety of issues...
Thanks Jiim Cann...for the camper humor!
The wildlife is abundant!
Of course nightlife is also plentiful in the area and after
a local news paper wrote about the most popular Tiki Huts
in the area we decided to check them out.
Some were very nice with just so...so food!
Some were so...so location with great food!
And some we visited more than once!
One of Tony's favorites at Captain Curts the Sneeky Tiki went through
a remodel while we were there and almost doubled the size.
They all served tropical drinks ;)
We fell in love with Siesta Key... a barrier island connected to the mainland in two places with Draw Bridges. We have explored most of 3.5 square miles of island which consists of 2.4 sq. miles of land and 1.1 sq. miles of water.
Our home away from home was the Turtle Beach Campground at the south end of this island in an area that you would never expect to find a place to camp, let alone right off the beach.
So you can see we also fell in love with Turtle Beach Campground...the people we worked with and many of the people that stayed here from literally around the world. We look forward to a week long stay in the middle of March on our way north and another extended stay in the fall of 2018. It is very true what they say about this island...when you cross the bridge everything slows down...if your ready for it or not...{perfect}
A special shout out also goes to the people at this very nice restaurant
which just happened to be just across the street from our campsite on
Siesta Key. The food was always excellent with great service. We only
misted one Sunday Brunch in the five months and that was Christmas.
We are now in the Florida Keys starting at Key West (the most southern place in the United States) and will slowly work our way north through the island chain staying at four different RV parks.
