FORT CLINCH & TOMOKA STATE PARKS

Both of these Florida State Parks are very similar with lush, thick hard wood forest and lots of tropical foliage...something we saw along the ocean in Georgia with all the moss on the trees making natural canopy's over the roads and campsites keeping it 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the normal temperature.
While staying at Fort Clinch S.P. we visited with Jim & Linda Haskett who winter at nearby (4mi.) Fernandina Beach in a completely restored and upgraded 100+ year old house in the heart of the Historical District. We met Jim & Linda last September on our Bike & Barge in Germany and just had to include a stop on this trip...a great little town to get away from it all...and still be close to a uncrowded beach and desirable coastal climate.

We are just above Daytona Beach now and will be moving down the coast to Melbourne Beach tomorrow and to our first private camp ground on this trip...right on the ocean...break out the sun tan oil...
